When the news is a trigger...

So many triggers in the media at the moment for people who have been in abusive relationships... leaders aggressively attacking a country and then offering themselves as the safe route out... gaslighting about what constitutes rule breaking, and the extensive public commentary about the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard relationship, which is triggering to many people who have experienced abuse.

Emotional abuse and coercive control can leave a lasting impact. If you feel affected, consider moving towards that feeling - ask yourself "what do I need?" and boost your self care. Allow those triggers to show you the soft spots where a little bit more healing might be needed. Never be afraid to ask for help, if you feel that help is needed. Trust yourself, believe yourself, and look after yourself.
